The past decade has shown a huge increase in private donations by American citizens to presidential candidates: in 2008 the contributions to the Obama campaign were higher than the total sum raised by the two candidates Bush and Kerry in 2004. How did this happen? Barack Obama managed to be extremely popular among young people. Naomi Klein’s article on how corporate branding has taken over America described the Obama phenomenon as the most successful XXI century brand. In 2012 American students - people without substantial funds - donated an impressive 3 million dollars to the campaigns of Obama and Romney. The booklet/poster shows all these donations over time, and visualises other relevant information related to the donations.
